Indie Spotlight Review: Backstage Royalty (Self-Titled)

Sometimes young bands have so many influences that they try a little bit of everything early on to see what works and out of that comes something tight and controlled…or they just get crazier and crazier until they’re so out of control that they blow up the music scene with something so different and out there that they can’t be ignored.  It’s hard to say what will become of the Rochester, New York Trio, but Backstage Royalty has come out with a self-titled album that shows off their penchant for experimentation.  Taking a little bit here and there from everything from alternative rock to pop punk to techno they are forging a path that few dare to go, reminding me of a few other indie acts that have hung around through the years like Amen. The Animal and The Human Flight Committee.
