    switchfoot – hello hurricane

  2. Nathaniel Schex December 8, 2009 at 2:46 pm

Relient K: Yes. Deas Vail: Yes. TFK: Yes Flyleaf? The CD lacked good alt rock tracks, and when the band tried to offer those, Laceys voice went the way of Emery’s Shallow Sea’s guy. After that I really don’t care since all the alternative rock albums you mentioned went way over my head. Where is Awaken, North Wind!?

  3. Tyler Hess December 8, 2009 at 2:53 pm

i thought A,NW was okay, but it didn’t blow me away so much that I actually ever listen to it anymore.

  4. Jocelyn December 9, 2009 at 1:49 pm

Haha. I’ve only heard two of those, the Emery and Deas Vail ones, and I agree that they’re both really good. I actually didn’t buy a lot of albums from this year. I think I mostly caught up on last year’s. Lol.

  5. Tyler Hess December 9, 2009 at 1:56 pm

time to get caught up on this year! when i catch up on things its usually from the early 00’s with old school pop punk when i buy used cd’s on amazon :)

  6. Kelly December 9, 2009 at 2:28 pm

Where does Ives the Band fall in your list? I thought their album was unique and set apart from the crowd.

  7. Tyler Hess December 9, 2009 at 2:34 pm

Ives the Band is pretty good…right up there with Seabird…I enjoyed it…maybe in the top 20 or 30 or something? i really didnt make a list bigger than ten cus it gets really muddied really fast after that so i’m just taking a wild guess. i’d say if you like anchor & braile or deas vail or we shot the moon then you’d like Ives as well, though those had a bit better production.

  8. Brooks G. December 12, 2009 at 5:07 am

Good choices! I do agree that Switchfoot deserved to be in there but Emery and Relient k were awesome records for sure! I have to get my list out sometime soon!

  26. Tyler Hess January 8, 2010 at 3:43 pm

You TFK fans sure do like TFK haha

  27. Jacobi January 9, 2010 at 9:00 pm

TFK’s new album is their best so far. I’m glad to see it on this list. They definately deserve it. I still can’t decide which song I like the best! I don’t think that will be happening anytime soon. Thousand Foot Krutch is simply amazing and never disapointing. I definately underestimated their new album, catagorizing it with the rest of their albums. It is much harder! :D :D

  28. Katie January 10, 2010 at 12:14 am

All right! Way to go Thousand Foot Krutch! Their new album definitely helped cement them in a top musical spot this year. Hopefully more successful albums will follow the awesomeness of Welcome to the Masquerade!

  29. Tabitha January 10, 2010 at 12:50 pm

Awesome job TFK! You’re amazing and I love your music!!!:)

  30. Brad January 12, 2010 at 9:17 am

Welcome To The Masquerade! By far the best album of the year! Love every song! Love you TFK!

  31. SHARA January 13, 2010 at 6:36 pm

I SLIGHTLY AGREE. THOUSAND FOOT KRUTCH SHOULD BE IN THE TOP SPOT! THEY WERE ABLE TO FOLLOW “THE FLAME IN ALL OF US” WITH SOMETHING JUST AS, IF NOT EVEN MORE AWESOME AND THAT IS AN AMAZING FEAT IN AND OF ITSELF!
I AGREE WITH SHOWBREAD AND RELIENT K BUT CAN’T HELP BUT NOTICE THAT PROJECT 86’S PICKET FENCE CARTEL WAS MISSING! THAT ALBUM IS AWESOME!

  32. Kasey January 18, 2010 at 7:53 pm

Thousand Foot Krutch has way more fans then any other! I’m amazed at what they have done! FM Static should be here too!

  33. Chelsea January 18, 2010 at 9:39 pm

I agree with TFK and Relient K. I love both of those bands.

  34. Craig Hall January 20, 2010 at 9:33 pm

    Great job, TFK. Congrats.

  35. Dan Johnson January 24, 2010 at 4:56 pm

TFK’s “Welcome to the Masquerade” is AMAZING. Relient K also put together an impressive record, and Deas Vail surprised me.

  36. Emma January 25, 2010 at 3:08 pm

This is probably one of TFK’s best albums :D
I would have gone with TFK getting #1 but still, another “best of 2009”? Great Job!!

  37. Matthew Grotheer January 25, 2010 at 7:45 pm

TFK is the most awesome band ever. This album is by far top notch and they shouuld be getting more love from people. Trevor McNevan is awesome and they should have the #1 album this year…

  38. Jack January 26, 2010 at 10:56 am

For me there is no top 10 – Adam Young’s project Owl City is leagues ahead with the album Ocean Eyes! Think about it, I don’t think I’ve heard anyone to reach number 1 in the US and the UK within a year of gaining mainstream popularity!!

  39. Fiona January 26, 2010 at 10:58 am

Owl City being the best :) There really is no competition. Adam Young is amazing and 100% full of talent.

  40. Tyler Hess January 26, 2010 at 11:01 am

mainstream popularity does not automatically make you the best…and since when did he become number one anywhere?

  41. Christina January 26, 2010 at 11:10 am

I DO agree with the list for the most part, I would also liked to have seen Owl City on there though.

  42. rayna January 26, 2010 at 11:25 am

Owl City shoulda been on there! No doubt about it. Adam Young has done so great getting to the top, im very proud of him. Just because he isnt on the list, doesnt mean he isnt number one<3

  43. Annie January 26, 2010 at 11:26 am

I agree with all the albums you have on here, but Owl city is amazing! Adam Young makes beautiful music!

  44. Tyler Hess January 26, 2010 at 11:28 am

haha okay i see whats going on here…oh the fan corps…first tfk, now owl city…nice

  45. Stefanie January 26, 2010 at 11:38 am

  46. Aaron January 26, 2010 at 11:40 am

I really liked Relient K’s album along with Emery’s and Anchor And Braille’s. But Owl City’s Ocean Eyes takes the cake for 2009. Cake Down.

  47. Hali Zotter January 26, 2010 at 11:40 am

  50. John Williams January 26, 2010 at 12:12 pm

Anyway, Owl City’s New CD Is AMAZING!!! I LOVE IT!! :D

  51. Steph January 26, 2010 at 12:15 pm

I can haz an Owl City? The Relient K album was pretty amazing, too. I had both that and Ocean Eyes on repeat. Goood albums. ^_^

  52. Tyler Hess January 26, 2010 at 12:41 pm

you can haz only if you have the owl from the lolcats site asking for it :-p

  53. Brittany January 26, 2010 at 12:41 pm

Well. I was told that Owl City was on this list. So. Now that he’s not, I must say, Adam Young is amazing… and should totally be here. But. Relient K and Deas Vail. Those two win as well. For sure.

  62. Valerie January 26, 2010 at 3:34 pm

I would have loved to have seen Owl City on this list. I really thought Ocean Eyes was one of the best of oh nine. The easiness and sweet melodies made it really enjoyable to listen. And Adam’s originality and creativity really shone through for me.

  63. MANDY January 26, 2010 at 4:32 pm
